Daiso (2 dollars shop) has been in Singapore for a while and I bet most of us have been to or at least heard of it. There are bunch of items there and they are all 2 dollars. And that labyrinth type of setting and off course the price attract many.
Why Daiso’s labels are so small?!
Whenever I go to one of the shops, I got surprised to see many people there: strollers are hard to move around (but those mums need things from Daiso), we tend to roam around the same shelf again and again looking for a specific thing, and try to “read” what that specific thing is. Well, they put labels in English on top of their packages in Japanese but really in a small letter! I see many people taking out their glasses or pinch it outwards hoping that they can enlarge the letter like those screen of smartphones ;)
While I’m not that frequent customer of Daiso (I was after my move, though), I’m still a good fan of Daiso and I will share some of the Daiso hacks in Singapore. (I even created a word “Daisoganise” (Daiso + Organise) some time ago!) Please remember this is my way and your may be different. However, you may got your right brain stimulated and may create your own hacks!
Today I will share some uses of Daiso curtain or extension rods.
Daisoganise #1) Use as hanger poll
If you have some space in your closet that is usually come with partition boards of 3 or 4, remove the boards as necessary and install a shortest size of a Daiso rod. Make sure you put them horizontally and squeeze it so that it is firmly install against both walls.
I use it for my daughter’s hanger poll.
You may add “S shaped hooks” and hang your belts or less used light items. The tips is to put it all the way at the back near the end wall for such less used items, so that you can install another poll in front for frequently used items :)
Daisorganise #2) Add extra storage space for your small ones’ shoes
You can install 2 rods for your deep shoe closet and create double space to store your children’s shoes. (I don’t do this at my place. Photos takes at my client’s place.)
If you are a heel lover, your collection of heels can be hanged on a single rod. Just don’t make them overloaded even if you are a collector :)
Daisoganise #3) Add extra storage to your pantry
Again, I don’t do this at my place but this is what I did for my client who needed extra space for her pantry. Same as #2, install 2 rods to create extra space and depth as you wish. Here I put a box to store light weight stuffs but you can consider trays or wooden/plastic baskets also depends on your interior preferences or size.
I will try to update you with some more tips with Daiso, Muji, and Ikea for small spaces. Hope the post was helpful ;)
