IKEAキッズチェアのリメイク☆Quick/inexpensive way to repair a IKEA Kid’s chair

親も愛用していたIKEAのキッズ用の椅子をリメイクしました。
正確に言うと、(大人が使って)壊れたので、修理しました。

もともと薄い合板が座面になっていて、娘が立った時もメリっと・・・。
みなさん椅子には正しく座りましょう☆

大人も使えるように、厚めの板を貼りました。

板をカットして、しっかりやすりがけして、茶系のペンキを塗って、白くペイントして、
板の風合いを出すために、もういちど軽ーくサンディングして。
ちょっとざらざらしていたので、透明のニスも塗りました。

使ったのはDAISOの板。
ちょうど3枚でもともとの座面よりすこし大きなサイズでした。
DIYショップが浸透していないシンガポールで、頼りになる存在です。

今のところ大人が座っても問題なく使えています。
我が家のDIY担当はもっぱら私です。
娘にも少しずつ教えていきたいと思っています☆

かわいそうな姿でしたが、自分で手を加えて、お気に入りのアイテムになりました。

Obviously, these type of kids’ chairs are not for adults but we couldn’t resist sitting on them. Well we knew this would happen and indeed it did. The tiny thin plywood were easily damaged. I needed to do something before my daughter gets hurt and ran for DAISO, a fixed-low price general shop from Japan. In Singapore, everything is sold at 2 dollars.

As shown on the picture, 3 small boards where enough to cover the seat for one chair. What I did was to measure, cut, paint and glue. You can skip the painting part if you or your kids want a natural look. But if you wish to do the same, good thing about DAISO is that you can also find DIY gears. My saw, sand papers, paints and brush are from DAISO. I didn’t nail the boards but used a double-sided tape which is also from there.

If you decided to fix his/her chairs, coloring the boards with them may be a fun thing to do on weekends.
